The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged Nigerians to embrace hope, unity, and resilience in the face of current challenges, declaring that the nation has reached a critical moment for renewal and transformation.
In an Easter message on Sunday, CAN President, ✠ Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said the resurrection of Jesus Christ underscores the possibility of new beginnings, even in the most difficult circumstances.
“No matter how hard life has been, rising again is always possible. That is the meaning of Easter hope returning when it seemed lost,” he said.
He acknowledged the hardship faced by many Nigerians, noting that insecurity and economic struggles have left citizens anxious and weary.
“Across the country, people are weary. Families are anxious. Many do not feel safe; others are struggling just to get by. But this is not the end,” Okoh stated.
The CAN President called on leaders to demonstrate empathy and deliver tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
“People must feel leadership, not just hear it. They are looking for action and visible efforts to improve their lives,” he added.
He also urged the Church to rise to its responsibility of providing hope and direction to the people.
“The Church must stand with the struggling, offering direction and helping to light the way forward,” he said.
Okoh further appealed to Nigerians to remain united and resist division, stressing that collective effort is key to national recovery.
“We must not give up on one another. If we choose unity over suspicion and stand together, change becomes certain,” he noted.
Describing Easter as a call to action, he emphasized the need for a shared commitment to rebuilding the nation.
“Easter is a decision to rise above our differences and confront what holds us back. If we do this together, Nigeria will rise again,” he declared.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Easter celebration and praying for the nation’s progress.
