Tinubu Ends Years of Abandoned Projects in Kuje, Says Gomo

The Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Tanko Jibrin, has hailed the completion of the Airport-Kuje Road, declaring that the project has finally broken the long-standing cycle of abandoned infrastructure projects in the area.

Speaking shortly after the commissioning of Highway 105 on Thursday, the traditional ruler said residents of Kuje had waited for years to see the road completed, as previous administrations repeatedly failed to deliver on the project.

According to him, the story changed when the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, took over and vowed not to allow the road suffer the fate of previous abandoned projects.

“We wanted this road even before the Minister came. When he inspected the road, I told him that it had always ended up as an abandoned project,” the monarch said.

“He told me, ‘No road will be abandoned under my watch. I am going to work on it.’ Today, everybody can see that he kept his promise.”

The royal father commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Wike for demonstrating the political will to complete the strategic road, which links Kuje directly to the Abuja Airport Expressway.

He described the project as a major breakthrough that would transform the socio-economic fortunes of Kuje and improve the lives of residents.

“Today, we are witnessing what he has achieved in just two to three years. We thank Mr President and the Minister for having the courage to work on this road.

“I don’t even know how to thank him enough. He is leaving behind a legacy that generations yet unborn will remember,” he said.

The Gomo noted that the newly completed dual carriageway would drastically reduce travel time between Kuje and Abuja, ease traffic congestion and boost commercial activities in the fast-growing satellite town.

He added that the project had restored confidence in government and ended years of disappointment suffered by residents who watched previous efforts collapse.

According to him, the completion of the road has secured Wike’s place in the history of Kuje’s development.

“Anyone who uses this road will always remember Mr Wike. I am very happy today that we are commissioning this laudable project,” he said.

The commissioning of the road is expected to open up Kuje for greater investment and development, while improving access to the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding communities.
