Tinubu: No Community Will Be Left Behind as Wike Ends Historic 31-Day FCT Project Commissioning

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday vowed that no community would be left behind in his administration’s infrastructure drive, promising to extend quality roads, schools and hospitals to satellite towns and rural communities across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the country.

Tinubu, represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, gave the assurance while commissioning the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, marking the end of the FCT Administration’s 31-day marathon of project commissioning to celebrate the administration’s third anniversary.

Describing the project as a fulfilment of his Renewed Hope Agenda, the President said his administration had remained committed to translating campaign promises into visible projects that improve the lives of Nigerians.

“This ceremony is not just about opening a road. It is a practical validation of our Renewed Hope Agenda. We promised to transform governance into visible, impactful results, and this completed infrastructure stands as a testament to that solemn pledge,” Tinubu said.

He recalled that residents of Kubwa and adjoining communities had for years endured bad roads, flooding and traffic congestion that crippled businesses and daily activities.

According to him, the reconstructed road has now transformed the area into an economic corridor that will improve transportation, boost commerce, enhance security and ease access to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX).

“Our developmental vision for the Federal Capital Territory is complete inclusion. We refuse to restrict development to the high-brow city centre of Abuja. The suburbs, the outskirts and the satellite towns deserve the exact same high-quality infrastructure,” he stated.

The President said better roads would stimulate economic activities, enable farmers to transport produce with ease, improve emergency response and reduce criminal activities through improved road infrastructure.

He commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for driving what he described as an unprecedented infrastructure revolution in the nation’s capital and praised contractors for delivering quality work.

Tinubu also urged residents of Kubwa, Gbazango and neighbouring communities to protect the road from vandalism, assuring Nigerians that his administration would continue to provide infrastructure that promotes inclusive development.

Earlier, Wike described the commissioning as the successful conclusion of an unprecedented infrastructure programme that ran from June 9 to July 17 without any major incident.

According to him, no administration in Nigeria’s history had commissioned and flagged off projects continuously for almost a month.

“It is unprecedented in the history of this country for a President to commission and flag off projects continuously for 28 days. The joy on the faces of the people today shows that governance is about commitment and making people happy,” Wike said.

He noted that the reconstructed road had changed the fortunes of residents and business owners in the area, saying the people now have every reason to celebrate.

“If you ask the people of this area today, they will tell you that government has finally come home. This is what we call the impact of positive governance,” he said.

The minister added that more than 50 projects had been commissioned under President Tinubu’s administration in the FCT, insisting that the achievements had become the administration’s “report card.”

“If you call Tinubu today, he will show you his report card. That is what governance is all about,” Wike declared.

Responding to a request by the Chairman of Bwari Area Council for improved water supply, Wike directed the Executive Secretary of the FCT Water Board to urgently provide potable water to the community.

“Go home and give your people water,” he instructed.

Wike also disclosed that the FCT Administration would commence another round of project commissioning before the end of the year, with no fewer than 10 additional projects lined up for inauguration.

In her remarks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, hailed President Tinubu’s leadership and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as the driving force behind the ongoing transformation of Abuja.

She also commended Wike’s leadership, saying the administration’s investment in infrastructure had improved mobility, economic activities and the quality of life of residents across the territory.
