The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to embark on a 31-day commissioning of infrastructure projects across Abuja to mark the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing the initiative as evidence of the scale of development taking place in the nation’s capital.
Speaking at a political luncheon in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Wike said the month-long exercise would showcase key projects delivered under the FCT Administration, including major road networks, public infrastructure and urban renewal programmes aimed at improving the capital city’s functionality and aesthetics.
According to the minister, the commissioning programme reflects the growing pace of development in the FCT under President Tinubu’s leadership.
“This third year of Mr. President alone, we are taking 31 days for commissioning of projects in Abuja. I’m not talking about boreholes. I challenge anybody to contradict this,” Wike said.
He noted that the duration of project commissioning activities has increased steadily over the past three years, rising from nine days during the President’s first anniversary to 19 days in the second year and now 31 days in the third year.
The minister attributed the achievements to what he described as President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure development and his support for the transformation agenda being implemented in the FCT.
Wike maintained that the visible changes across Abuja were a reflection of purposeful governance and challenged critics to objectively assess the administration’s performance.
