ABUJA — Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics network in Borno State, arresting six suspects and recovering materials believed to be destined for insurgents in the North-East.
The operation, carried out around 4:00 p.m. on July 19, 2026, followed credible intelligence and involved a coordinated stop-and-search along a suspected supply route used by terrorist elements.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), the suspects were apprehended while travelling in five vehicles conveying a large consignment of items.
Recovered materials include 202 cartons of herbicides, a jerrycan of suspected acid, a Starlink wireless communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 knapsack sprayer pumps.
Goni said preliminary findings indicate the items have dual-use capabilities, which could support terrorist logistics, mobility, communications and sustainment.
“Some of the recovered items, particularly the NPK fertilizers and suspected acid, will undergo further technical and forensic examination to determine their intended use, including possible application in the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),” he stated.
He described the interception as a major disruption of terrorist supply chains, noting that sustained military pressure has weakened insurgent operations across the theatre.
“The six suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for comprehensive investigation to identify collaborators, sponsors and intended recipients,” Goni added.
The military further disclosed that intelligence from rescued hostages and surrendered terrorist families shows that shortages of food, medical supplies and communication equipment are forcing many insurgents to abandon their camps and flee.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks through intelligence-driven operations targeting financiers, logistics suppliers and collaborators.
The military also urged the public to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities within their communities.
