Troops Neutralise Bandits, Recover Rustled Livestock in Kaduna Operations

Kaduna — Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised suspected bandits, recovered rustled livestock, and restored public order in a series of coordinated security operations across Kaduna State.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations were part of sustained efforts to combat terrorism and criminal activities in the North West region.

On June 20, troops acting on credible intelligence intercepted cattle rustlers in a Kaduna community, engaging them in a firefight that led to the neutralisation of two suspected bandits. Weapons, ammunition, and rustled livestock were recovered during the operation.

“The prompt intervention disrupted the criminal operation and enabled the recovery of stolen animals,” the statement said, adding that one civilian was killed by the fleeing bandits.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops on night patrol arrested two suspected bandits. Security forces reportedly recovered digital materials linking the suspects to terrorist and bandit activities. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation.

Further operations on June 21 saw troops conducting fighting patrols encounter armed criminals who retreated under pressure. Two suspected bandit scouts were later apprehended, with motorcycles and communication devices containing incriminating evidence recovered.

Meanwhile, troops also intervened in a civil disturbance at Mararraba community following the mob killing of a woman accused of child trafficking. The mob had attempted to attack public infrastructure and block a major highway before security forces restored order.

“Troops swiftly dispersed the mob, secured critical facilities, and ensured uninterrupted movement of commuters,” Danja stated

The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their vigilance and operational effectiveness, reaffirming the military’s commitment to sustained offensive and intelligence-driven operations.

He assured residents that efforts would continue to dismantle criminal networks and enhance security across Kaduna State and the wider North West region.
