***Says Nigeria Can’t Survive One-Party Rule
Renowned cleric and convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, Prophet Isa El-Buba, , has thrown his weight behind the 2027 presidential ambition of Prince Adewole Adebayo declaring that he now believes the Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain is better positioned to rescue Nigeria.
El-Buba, who spoke at an SDP gathering in Bauchi State, said his decision to back Adebayo was driven by his conviction that Nigeria urgently needs credible leadership capable of tackling the nation’s growing challenges.
The fiery cleric also warned against any attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, insisting that democracy can only thrive where justice, fairness and political competition exist.
“Nigeria cannot go into a one-party state. Oppression is never the pathway to stability, and peace cannot thrive where there is injustice,” he said.
Lamenting the country’s worsening insecurity, poverty, unemployment and hardship, El-Buba said it was painful that a nation blessed with enormous resources continues to struggle under poor leadership.
“Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources, intelligent people and great potential, yet millions still suffer from insecurity, unemployment, poverty and injustice,” he stated.
The cleric urged Nigerians to unite and take back the country’s future, saying citizens can no longer afford to remain silent while the nation drifts.
Throwing his support behind Adebayo, El-Buba said members of his movement would mobilise across the country to support the SDP leader ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He also took a swipe at vote-buying, warning politicians not to assume Nigerians could still be swayed with cash or food items.
“Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigeria with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country,” he declared.
Expressing optimism about the future, El-Buba said the country was on the threshold of a new political era and called on Nigerians to embrace leaders with integrity, competence and vision.
According to him, the quest for a better Nigeria must begin with choosing leaders who are prepared to put the interests of the people above personal ambition.
