The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami, Gomo III, has called on religious leaders and faithful across the country to intensify prayers for divine intervention in Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.
The monarch made the call on Friday at his palace during the weekly post-Jumu’at special prayers for peace, unity and development.
Sami said the practice of offering special prayers for peace had been sustained in the Zuru Emirate since he assumed the throne, stressing that the renewed appeal had become necessary in view of the security challenges confronting the country.
He also commended the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for what he described as his commitment to tackling insecurity and promoting sustainable development in the state.
The Emir noted that despite the deployment of resources and efforts by governments at all levels, the security situation had persisted, making it necessary to complement physical measures with sincere supplication to Allah.
“Let us wholeheartedly return to Allah (SWT) through our various religious leaders and followers for Allah’s divine intervention, in addition to the efforts being made by our leaders, particularly our own governor,” the monarch said.
He urged residents of the emirate and Kebbi State at large to continue supporting and praying for Governor Idris for the success of his administration.
According to him, peaceful coexistence and the socio-economic wellbeing of the people should remain central to the collective efforts of government and citizens.
The special prayer session was led by the Chief Imam of Zuru, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Tanko Liman, alongside the Sarkin Mallaman Zuru, Alhaji Musa Balarabe, and other prominent Islamic scholars in the emirate.
