LOKOJA — The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has hailed the ₦100 million empowerment package for 2,000 petty traders in Kogi State as a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda in action.
Speaking to journalists in Lokoja after the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the North Central zone, Enikanolaiye said the initiative by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reflects genuine commitment to grassroots development and poverty alleviation.
According to a statement by the Media Team of the Office of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the minister described the intervention as timely and impactful.
“This ₦100 million intervention for petty traders is a direct intervention for direct impact. It shows the Renewed Hope Agenda is not theory — it is action,” Enikanolaiye said.
He commended Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what he termed “inspiring leadership,” noting that the administration’s focus on welfare-driven programmes is improving the lives of citizens.
Enikanolaiye also praised the First Lady’s broader initiatives, particularly the National Community Food Bank Programme, which he said would strengthen food security and support vulnerable populations across the region.
Earlier, Senator Tinubu explained that the programme is designed to ensure access to nutritious food for households, especially lactating mothers and children, in collaboration with key government health agencies.
The minister further highlighted the significance of projects commissioned in the state, including the Food Bank facility, the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency headquarters, Treasury House, and upgraded primary healthcare centres, noting that they would enhance public service delivery and socio-economic development.
On security, Enikanolaiye expressed gratitude for the safe rescue of abducted victims in parts of the country, reiterating government’s resolve to safeguard lives and property.
“Security remains non-negotiable. We thank God for the safe return of our brothers and sisters,” he said.
He also commended the wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, describing her as “a true mother” for her sustained efforts in empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups.
“What we saw in Lokoja today is leadership by example. Sustainable development is a shared responsibility between government and the governed,” Enikanolaiye added.
Dignitaries at the event included government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
