Four serving members of the House of Representatives in Imo State have lost their bids to secure return tickets during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries held across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The primaries, conducted using the Option A4 voting system across the state’s 10 federal constituencies, produced a mix of new candidates and returning lawmakers.

Candidates who emerged from the exercise include Ngozi Pat-Ekeji for Aboh/Ngor-Okpala, Chukwudi Anyanwuocha for Ahiazu/Ezinihitte, Sandra Inyama for Ideato North/South, Canice Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo for Orlu/Orsu/Oru East, Jonas Okeke for Okigwe South, Uchenna Agasu for Okigwe North, Dibiagwu Eugene for Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru-West, Cosmos Maduba for Nkwerre/Nwangele/Isu/Njaba, Akarachi Amadi for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru (Mbaike), and Tochi Okere for Owerri Federal Constituency.
Ahead of the primaries, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, had assured party members that the process would reflect the party’s zoning arrangement and principles of fairness.
Speaking during an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, Uzodinma said the party would not impose candidates on members and stressed the need to respect existing political agreements across constituencies.
The governor also explained that the adoption of the Option A4 voting system was aimed at ensuring transparency, credibility and wider participation of party members in the primary process.
He urged aspirants and party supporters to approach the exercise peacefully and accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship, noting that elections naturally produce winners and losers.
