Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying the political crisis that divided the state is over.
Speaking on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private pharmaceutical factory in Rivers State, Fubara urged his supporters to rally behind all candidates presented by the coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” the governor said.
Declaring an end to months of political tension, Fubara added: “The time of war is over; it is now time for peace. I have returned to our family.” He also ruled out participating in any action capable of creating fresh divisions in the state, insisting that his administration was committed to peace and stability.
On the Riven Medical Facility project, the governor said the investment would accelerate industrialisation, create jobs and position Rivers State as a major centre for the production of medical consumables. He disclosed that the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory is expected to be completed within three months.
Fubara assured investors of the state government’s full support and appealed to members of the host community to cooperate with the project developers. He also revealed that the government was currently involved in litigation over claims exceeding ₦200 billion with several companies, stressing that his administration was determined to avoid contractual disputes capable of discouraging investment in the state.
