Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed reports linking him to a proposed 2027 presidential ticket with former President Goodluck Jonathan, insisting that his political ambition is focused solely on the Senate.
The governor was reacting to social media claims that he was being considered as Jonathan’s running mate after a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, reportedly adopted the former president as its presidential candidate.
The speculation gained momentum after an African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Nuhu Sada, suggested on X that Mohammed could be paired with Jonathan for the 2027 presidential race.
But in a swift response on his verified X handle on Sunday, the Bauchi governor denied any involvement in such a plan.
“Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” he stated.
Mohammed urged Nigerians to ignore reports linking him to any vice-presidential ambition.
“Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” he added.
The governor recently dumped the PDP for the APM amid the lingering crisis rocking the opposition party.
His latest clarification is seen as an effort to end growing speculation over his political future and reaffirm his commitment to the Bauchi South Senate race in 2027.
