ABUJA, Nigeria — A prosecution witness on Tuesday told the Federal High Court in Abuja how several multi-million naira transactions were allegedly processed through an account linked to Alkausar Farm in the ongoing N8.7 billion money laundering trial involving former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, his wife and son.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Malami and two family members on a 16-count charge bordering on conspiracy, concealment, procurement, and laundering of alleged illicit funds amounting to ₦8,713,923,759.49, in violation of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Witness Details Bank Transactions
The fifth prosecution witness, Munawwarah Salisu Anas, a compliance officer with Jaiz Bank Plc, told the court that her duties include interfacing with law enforcement agencies, including the EFCC.
Led in evidence by prosecution counsel, J.S. Okutepa, SAN, the witness confirmed receiving correspondence from the anti-graft agency requesting account records, which the bank responded to in a letter dated February 4, 2026.
The court admitted the documents as Exhibit E Series, comprising account opening forms, identification certificates, and statements of account covering multiple transactions.
Explaining the records, Anas said:
“Page one is the forwarding letter, page two is the certificate of identification, pages three to twenty-five are the account opening documents, while pages twenty-six to thirty are the statement of account of Alkausar Farm.”
Cash Deposits and Transfers Highlighted
While reviewing the account statement, the witness detailed several inflows and outflows, including:
₦1 million cash deposit on June 13, 2018, from Hassan Aliyu
₦2.25 million cash deposit on June 20, 2018, from Aliyu Mohammed
Multiple ₦10 million transfers on December 7, 2018, from Kalamu Wahid Global Concept, including four separate inflows and an additional ₦8 million same day
₦45.5 million debit transfer to Donaliv Global Nigeria Limited on December 18, 2018
₦26.25 million inflows on July 13 and July 22, 2020, from Al-Afiya Energy Limited

₦1 million transfer to Alfagai Jewelry Nigeria Limited the same day
₦2.03 million credit and corresponding cheque withdrawal on August 12, 2020.
She further told the court that suspicious transactions are monitored and reported to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) where necessary.
Under cross-examination, she confirmed she was not subpoenaed to appear in court and said the bank only verifies and reports suspicious transactions without determining their purpose.
Defence counsel, Adedayo Adedeji, SAN, reserved objections to the admissibility of the exhibits until final address.
Case Adjourned
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik admitted the documents into evidence and adjourned the matter until July 17, 2026, for continuation of trial.
The EFCC continues to present witnesses as part of efforts to establish its allegations in the high-profile financial crime case, which remains one of the most closely watched corruption trials in the country.
