…Describes late security chief as patriot, disciplinarian
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has mourned the death of former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Chief Albert K. Horsfall, describing him as a patriot whose contributions to Nigeria’s national security remain a benchmark.
Fubara, in a condolence statement personally signed and made available to journalists by his media aide, Onwuka Nzeshi, on Sunday, described the late security chief as a disciplinarian and an embodiment of quiet strength, intelligence and integrity.
The governor said Horsfall served the country with dedication and professionalism, leaving behind a legacy that would continue to inspire generations of security professionals.
“I received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Chief Albert K. Horsfall, former Director-General of the State Security Service and a distinguished son of Rivers State,” Fubara said.
According to him, Horsfall’s service to Nigeria was characterised by dedication, professionalism and integrity, adding that his contributions to national security and stability remained a standard for those who succeeded him.
Fubara noted that Horsfall was not only a former head of the SSS but also an elder statesman and mentor whose influence extended beyond the security establishment.
“To Rivers State, he was more than a former DG. He was an elder statesman, a mentor to many, and a proud ambassador of our values of service, honour, and excellence,” the governor stated.
He described the deceased as a bridge-builder and man of integrity whose death had created a significant vacuum in the state and the country.
The governor extended his condolences to Horsfall’s immediate family, the Horsfall family of Buguma, the security community and Nigerians mourning the former security chief.
Fubara prayed for the repose of Horsfall’s soul and for God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
He also expressed hope that the late security chief’s legacy of service and patriotism would continue to inspire Nigerians.
