Governor Makinde Attributes Ibadan Explosion to Illegal Miners, Vows Action

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, revealed that the explosion in Ibadan was caused by illegal miners storing explosive devices in one of the buildings in the Bodija area. The blast resulted in fatalities, injuries, and significant property damage.

  • Explosive Devices: Governor Makinde stated that illegal miners occupying a house in Bodija stored explosive devices, leading to the explosion. Preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed this, and further inquiries are ongoing.
  • Casualties: The incident resulted in 77 injured victims, with most treated and discharged, and two fatalities. The governor pledged to cover the medical bills of all victims and provide temporary accommodation for those whose houses were affected.
