The family of Chief Adebayo Adelabu has expressed profound gratitude to God, security agencies and Nigerians following the safe rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted and held captive by kidnappers.
In a statement issued by Chief Adelabu’s Media Aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, the family said they were relieved and thankful that the victims had regained their freedom and were in good health.
“We are relieved and thankful to announce that the victims have been rescued safely and are in good condition. This outcome is a testament to the power of collective action, the resilience of our security institutions and the support of citizens and government at all levels,” the statement said.
The family specifically appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his concern and commitment to the security and welfare of Nigerians during the difficult period.
They also thanked the Governor of Oyo State for his support, concern and cooperation throughout the ordeal.
The statement further commended the Inspector-General of Police, the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, the Oyo State Police Command and the Commissioner of Police in the state for what it described as their professionalism and relentless efforts that contributed to the successful rescue operation.
Special recognition was also given to the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and officers of the agency at both the national headquarters and Oyo State Directorate for intelligence-led operations that aided the victims’ rescue.
The family extended appreciation to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Oyo State chapter of the party, political associates, government officials, religious leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders, friends and family members who stood by them during the challenging period.
According to the statement, the outpouring of prayers, visits, phone calls, messages and words of encouragement provided strength and hope to the family while the victims remained in captivity.
While celebrating the successful rescue, the family said its thoughts and prayers remain with other Nigerians still being held by kidnappers across the country.
“We pray that Almighty God, in His mercy, will grant them freedom and safe reunion with their loved ones,” the statement added.
The family noted that the experience underscored the fact that insecurity affects all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, religion or social status.
Describing insecurity as a common enemy, they called for greater collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, political leaders, community stakeholders and citizens in the fight against crime.
“Together, we can build a Nigeria where every citizen feels safe and free to pursue their aspirations without fear. With sustained support for our security agencies, Nigeria can and will become a safer place for all,” the statement said.
The family prayed for God’s protection over security personnel and called for freedom for all those still in captivity, expressing hope for a peaceful, secure and prosperous Nigeria.
