Abidjan, June 18, 2026 — Nigeria has strengthened its diplomatic presence in West Africa as Ambassador Ezenwa Chukwuemeka Nwaobiala formally presented his Letters of Credence to Côte d’Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.
The ceremony marks the official commencement of Ambassador Nwaobiala’s diplomatic assignment in the West African nation.
During the presentation, the Nigerian envoy conveyed the warm greetings and goodwill of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to President Ouattara and the people of Côte d’Ivoire, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, ANIPR, both countries reiterated their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly regional integration, trade, and economic development.
President Ouattara welcomed the new Nigerian ambassador and expressed Côte d’Ivoire’s readiness to further enhance diplomatic and economic relations with Nigeria, describing both nations as key partners in advancing peace and stability across West Africa.
The statement noted that Ambassador Nwaobiala, who was accompanied by his wife, Lady Chidinma Nwaobiala, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to discharge his duties with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility.
At a reception with members of the Nigerian community in Côte d’Ivoire, the ambassador emphasized the longstanding ties between both countries, noting that they are bound by geography, shared history, and a common vision for African unity and prosperity.
He also pledged to work closely with stakeholders to further strengthen diplomatic, cultural, and economic cooperation between Abuja and Abidjan.
The presentation underscores the continued commitment of Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire to maintaining strong bilateral relations within the framework of regional cooperation in West Africa.
