Osogbo, Osun State — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed recent defections from the party, insisting that they pose no threat to its chances in the upcoming governorship election, which it says it is fully prepared to win.
A chieftain of the party, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, stated this while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, describing the defections as a normal feature of election season politics and not a reflection of weakening party strength.
“The APC in Osun is bigger than any individual or group of individuals. Our structure is solid, resilient, and deeply rooted across all wards and local governments,” he said.
Oyintiloye maintained that the party remains the most formidable political force in the state, adding that it continues to enjoy widespread grassroots support despite political realignments.
He further argued that those suggesting the party has been weakened by defections were “out of touch with political realities on the ground.”
According to him, the emergence of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has further strengthened the APC’s internal cohesion and public acceptance.
“There is no community in Osun today where the AMBO movement is not gaining momentum. His acceptability cuts across political and social divides,” he said.
Oyintiloye noted that Oyebamiji’s experience in public service, humility, and accessibility have made him widely acceptable among voters, adding that his candidacy has energized party members across the state.
He said the APC remains focused on grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and internal reconciliation efforts aimed at strengthening unity ahead of the poll.
“This is not the time for distractions. Our structures are intact, our supporters are energised, and we are fully prepared for victory,” he added.
The APC chieftain urged party members to remain united and intensify mobilisation efforts, expressing confidence that the party would reclaim power in Osun State.
He also called on party leadership to address internal grievances to prevent further defections, stressing that unity remains critical to electoral success.
“The APC remains the party to beat in Osun State, and by the grace of God and the will of the people, we shall emerge victorious,” he said.
