We Won’t Stop Building Roads Across Nigeria, Says Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday declared that his administration will not relent in delivering roads and critical infrastructure across Nigeria, assuring citizens that the ongoing transformation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is only the beginning of a nationwide development drive.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima while inaugurating Collector Road C01 and a bridge linking the Body of Benchers, Nile University and Baze University in Abuja’s Institution and Research District, Tinubu said his government had fulfilled its promise to translate the Renewed Hope Agenda into visible projects.

According to him, the newly commissioned road is proof that his administration has moved beyond political promises to practical governance.

“We promised Renewed Hope. Today, we are not just looking at a road; we are looking at a promise kept,” the President said.

Tinubu assured Nigerians that investments in roads and other infrastructure would continue across cities, satellite towns and rural communities.

“The transformation of Abuja is a microcosm of the transformation we are bringing to the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stated.

He explained that the road project would ease traffic congestion, improve access to major institutions and fully connect the Institution and Research District to the capital city’s road network.

The President recalled that the project received emergency approval after complaints over poor road access and severe traffic congestion during last year’s Nigerian Law School Call to Bar ceremony.

“We could not allow the legal luminaries of our nation to navigate potholes to train future advocates, nor students to miss lectures because there was no bridge. We approved the project and today it has become a reality,” he said.

Tinubu stressed that infrastructure development remains a major pillar of his administration’s economic agenda, noting that quality roads create jobs, attract investments and stimulate economic growth.

“When you build roads, you open up districts. When you open up districts, you invite investment. And when investment comes, Nigeria grows,” he added.

The President also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for driving what he described as an unprecedented pace of infrastructure delivery in Abuja.

“You have proven once again that when you are given a job, you do not sleep until it is done. This marathon of project commissioning across the FCT shows this administration is firmly in action mode,” Tinubu said.

Earlier, FCT Minister Barr Nyesom Wike credited the rapid execution of projects in the nation’s capital to President Tinubu’s decision to remove the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), a move he said unlocked funds needed to implement the Abuja Master Plan.

“We thank you for your support and for making resources available. That is why today we have so many projects being commissioned across the FCT,” Wike said.

He assured residents that the FCT Administration would continue to spread infrastructure evenly across the city centre and satellite towns.
