ABUJA — Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Rivers State and Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Hon. Allwell Ihunda, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has no serious opposition in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Monday in Abuja during a solidarity visit by Rivers State council chairmen to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at the flag-off of the Tungan Madaki-Zuba road project, Ihunda said a “Rainbow Coalition” spearheaded by Wike had united political parties in support of the President.
According to him, the coalition has effectively cleared the path for Tinubu’s re-election in Rivers State.
“In Rivers State, the forthcoming election in 2027 is going to be a walkover. For the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have the Rainbow Coalition where virtually all the political parties are working together in the interest of the Federal Government and the President,” he said.
The ALGON chairman said the delegation came to Abuja to identify with Wike over what he described as the massive transformation taking place in the Federal Capital Territory.
He praised President Tinubu for appointing Wike as FCT Minister, saying the former Rivers governor has justified the confidence reposed in him through landmark infrastructure projects across Abuja.
“We are indeed very happy and proud that a son of Rivers State has decided to change the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory. This is the first time a Minister of the FCT is transforming the entire city,” Ihunda said.
He noted that the ongoing commissioning and inauguration of projects across the FCT as part of activities marking Tinubu’s third year in office demonstrated the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Ihunda described Wike as a visionary leader whose performance had brought pride to Rivers State, adding that the projects executed in the FCT were visible evidence of effective leadership.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu’s achievements in office would earn him another four-year mandate in 2027.
“With what we are seeing and what has been done, it is obvious that come 2027, Rivers State, and indeed Nigerians, would want the President to return and continue his good works for another four years,” he added.
