Hypercity-Carrefour Deal Underscores Nigeria’s Investment Appeal — Gbajabiamila Lauds Wike

ABUJA — Nigeria’s attractiveness as a prime investment destination received a major boost on Tuesday as the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, declared that the Hypercity-Carrefour partnership reflects rising global confidence in the country’s economy.

Speaking in Abuja at the franchise signing ceremony on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gbajabiamila said the deal goes beyond a retail agreement, describing it as a strategic endorsement of Nigeria’s economic stability and long-term potential.

“This is not just a commercial partnership; it is a powerful statement that Nigeria is open for business and ready for sustainable investment,” he said.

He noted that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is fast positioning itself as a nucleus for economic transformation, adding that developments such as the Hypercity-Carrefour collaboration signal the emergence of a structured retail ecosystem capable of driving growth and job creation.

Gbajabiamila also acknowledged the role of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in facilitating the deal, describing his leadership as instrumental in creating an enabling environment for investors.

According to him, the initiative represents the beginning of a broader retail expansion that could redefine urban commerce across Nigeria.

“Abuja is sowing the seed of what will become a nationwide retail network, with branches expected to spread to other major cities, including Lagos,” he added.

He further urged international investors to rethink Nigeria’s position in the global economy, emphasizing that the country offers not just a large consumer market, but also a stable platform for long-term partnerships.

The Guardian-style framing reflects a deeper economic narrative: a convergence of policy direction, investor confidence, and subnational leadership shaping Nigeria’s re-emergence on the global investment stage.
