Maiduguri, Nigeria — The United States Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA) has commended Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) for its operational progress and strong military partnership in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East.

The commendation came during a visit by the Commander of SOCAFRICA, Major General Claude Tudor, to the Theatre Command Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

Speaking during the engagement, Tudor described the collaboration between Nigeria and the United States as a model for effective military partnership.

“The sustained cooperation, mutual trust and shared commitment remain critical to achieving lasting peace and restoring normalcy in the North East,” he said.

He acknowledged the efforts of Operation Hadin Kai in combating terrorism and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to assess ongoing operations, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to continued support through enhanced military collaboration.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, expressed gratitude to the United States Government and SOCAFRICA for their support, particularly their integration into the theatre’s operational framework.

He noted that the partnership has significantly strengthened operational effectiveness through both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, while also highlighting the need for additional technological support to further enhance operations.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Nigeria–United States security partnership, with a focus on strengthening military capacity, countering terrorist networks, and promoting regional stability.
