The Etsu of Kwali, Luka Nizassan III, has praised President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr Nyesom Wike, for ending decades of neglect with the construction of the Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji Road.
Speaking on Tuesday after the inauguration of the road in Dafa, the traditional ruler described the project as a dream come true for the people, saying it would transform economic activities and improve security across the communities.
“We feel so delighted that this part of the Area Council is benefiting from government intervention. There is nothing happier than making demands and seeing those demands met,” Nizassan said.
He disclosed that the road, one of the oldest routes in the old Abuja Emirate, now Suleja Emirate, had been abandoned for years despite its historical importance.
According to him, the road dates back to the colonial era when it served as a major route used by tax collectors.
He lamented that previous governments and even private individuals attempted to rehabilitate the road without success until the intervention of Wike.
“Previous administrations and private individuals had attempted to fix the road, but all efforts failed until Wike intervened,” he said.
The monarch noted that apart from boosting economic activities, the road would improve security in the area by making it easier for security agencies to patrol the communities.
“This road was so bad that security personnel found it difficult to access this place for patrols and other operations. It will improve security because criminals do not like accessible areas,” he said.
Nizassan explained that Kwali, being predominantly an agrarian community, would benefit immensely from the road, which links Yangoji, Dafa, Gomani and Pai, making it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets.
He urged residents to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, describing governance as a partnership between the government and the people.
“Government is a game of give and take. Our responsibility now is to support this administration because we still expect more development from the government,” he added.
The royal father expressed optimism that the FCT Administration would also deliver on its promises to provide pipe-borne water and rehabilitate schools in the area, saying the projects would further improve the welfare of the people.
