The Interim National Working Committee (INWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown its weight behind the G-100 initiative aimed at uniting opposition political parties and groups ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said the initiative is designed to build a broad-based opposition platform capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
The PDP disclosed its position in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
According to the party, its decision to participate in the initiative was informed by the need for opposition forces to close ranks and address the economic and security challenges facing Nigerians under the APC-led Federal Government.
The PDP said it had consistently indicated its readiness to collaborate with political parties and organisations that share its objective of providing Nigerians with an alternative leadership platform.
It added that its involvement in the G-100 process was intended to contribute to the emergence of a credible, inclusive and effective opposition front ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, said the PDP’s participation was based on the expectation that the process would be guided by transparency, equality, data-driven decision-making and egalitarian principles.
“Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism,” Turaki said.
He added that an alliance built on such principles would offer Nigerians credible leadership capable of tackling poverty, insecurity and other challenges confronting the country.
The PDP said its participation in the inaugural meeting of the G-100, held on August 31, 2026, demonstrated its commitment to efforts aimed at building an effective all-opposition platform.
The party maintained that greater cooperation among opposition political parties and groups remained crucial to offering Nigerians an alternative political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It added that the PDP would continue to engage with “like-minded political parties and organisations” committed to rebuilding the country and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
