A former director with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Muktar Galadima, has officially entered the race for the House of Representatives, obtaining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination and expression of interest forms for the Wukari/Ibi federal constituency of Taraba State.
Galadima completed the process at the PDP secretariat in Jalingo on Wednesday, marking his formal entry into the contest ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists after picking up the forms, the retired town planning professional said his decision to run was inspired by growing calls from constituents for more responsive and effective representation at the National Assembly.
He expressed confidence in his chances, pointing to what he described as a strong connection with the grassroots and a long record of public service.
“This marks an important step towards my aspiration to provide purposeful leadership for my people,” he said, adding that the encouragement he has received across Wukari and Ibi had reinforced his resolve to contest.
Galadima brushed aside concerns about the electoral strength of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, maintaining that voters would ultimately determine the outcome of the election.
“The electorate will decide. I believe in the people and I am confident they will make the right choice,” he stated.
The aspirant, who is from Ibi Local Government Area, recently resigned his position as Senior Special Assistant on Development Control to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to focus on his political ambition.
Having retired from the FCTA nearly a decade ago, Galadima said he intends to bring his experience in urban planning and public administration to bear in addressing developmental challenges in the Wukari/Ibi constituency if elected.
