Don’t Lose Hope in Nigeria” — ADC Urges Citizens, Demands Urgent Action on Insecurity, Hardship

Abuja, Nigeria – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country despite rising economic hardship and insecurity, calling on governments at all levels to take decisive action to address the nation’s challenges.

In its Eid-el-Kabir message, the opposition party appealed to citizens to remain hopeful and committed to building a better Nigeria, even as millions grapple with inflation, unemployment, and safety concerns.

“Across the country, millions of families are struggling under the weight of rising food prices, worsening economic hardship, unemployment, and growing insecurity,” the party said in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

The ADC described the Sallah season as a time for reflection, sacrifice, and compassion, stressing that the current difficulties should not erode belief in the nation’s potential for recovery and progress.

“We believe that beyond the hardship lies the possibility of a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation,” the statement added, urging Nigerians to resist despair and remain optimistic about the future.

The party also called on leaders to demonstrate responsibility and service by implementing policies that address poverty, food inflation, and insecurity, while promoting unity and national healing.

In a related message, former Senate President and ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence and national unity, urging Nigerians to uphold tolerance and mutual understanding.

“At this critical moment, our diversity should remain a source of strength, not division,” Mark said in a goodwill message issued through his media aide.

He warned that insecurity—including banditry, kidnapping, and communal clashes—continues to threaten lives and livelihoods across the country, calling for more proactive and people-focused security strategies.

“Security remains the foundation upon which development and national progress can thrive,” he stated.

Mark also highlighted the need for economic reforms that would ease the burden on citizens, stressing the importance of tackling unemployment, poverty, and the high cost of living.

He urged leaders to govern with compassion, accountability, and justice, while encouraging Nigerians to continue promoting peace and unity.

The ADC concluded by praying for national healing, stability, and renewed hope as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
