The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) has urged Nigerians to embrace compassion, selflessness and support for cancer patients and vulnerable persons as Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-El-Kabir.
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Society, Prof. Abidemi Omonisi, made the call in his Eid-El-Kabir message, where he described the Islamic festival as a symbol of sacrifice, faith, obedience and love for humanity.
According to him, the values associated with the celebration resonate deeply with the daily struggles of cancer patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and advocates committed to combating the disease.
“As we reflect on the profound lessons attached to this holy season, we are reminded of the courage and sacrifices demonstrated daily by cancer patients battling the disease with strength and hope,” Omonisi stated.
He offered prayers for cancer patients across Nigeria and beyond, seeking divine healing, renewed strength, comfort and hope for those currently battling the illness.
The NCS president also prayed for cancer survivors to continue living in good health, while asking God to grant peace and consolation to families who have lost loved ones to cancer.
Omonisi commended caregivers, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, volunteers, donors and development partners for their commitment and sacrifices in supporting cancer patients and promoting awareness.
He called on Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-El-Kabir to strengthen the values of unity, kindness and collective support for vulnerable members of society.
“As Eid-El-Kabir teaches us the values of sacrifice, sharing, unity and compassion, let us continue to uplift one another and collectively work toward building a healthier and cancer-free society,” he said.
He further prayed for peace, unity and national progress, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyful celebration.
“May Almighty Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices, bless our homes with peace and joy, strengthen our communities with unity and love, and continue to guide our nation toward progress and prosperity,” he added.
