Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela following devastating twin earthquakes that struck the capital, Caracas, causing loss of lives and widespread destruction.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria expressed deep sympathy over the tragedy and its humanitarian impact, describing the development as a major loss to the South American nation.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the devastating twin earthquakes… resulting in significant loss of life, injuries and widespread destruction,” the statement read.
Nigeria said it was “deeply saddened” by the disaster, noting that it has brought immense grief to families and communities across the country.
The government also commended emergency responders, medical personnel, and volunteers for their efforts in ongoing rescue and relief operations.
It reaffirmed solidarity with Venezuela during this period of mourning, offering condolences to bereaved families and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The statement further expressed confidence in Venezuela’s resilience and ability to recover through unity, determination, and international support.
