ABUJA — The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will today begin the promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants in the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), following the approval of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the exercise would last 10 days and cover officers across 150 cadres and grade levels.
Ezeh said the exercise was approved as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu aimed at improving career progression in the FCT civil service.
“As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT civil servants for the year 2025,” the statement said.
He further disclosed that Wike had directed the Commission to conclude the 2026 promotion exercise before the end of the year to ensure that all eligible officers enjoy regular career advancement.
“The Minister further directed the Commission to ensure that the 2026 promotion exercise is also conducted before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers are given the opportunity to grow in the service,” Ezeh added.
According to him, the minister also directed the commission to collaborate with all relevant agencies of the FCTA to ensure a hitch-free exercise and prevent a recurrence of the challenges experienced during previous promotion exercises.
Ezeh assured candidates that adequate arrangements had been made for a smooth and transparent exercise and appealed to participants to remain patient throughout the process.
He wished all candidates success in the Computer-Based Test (CBT), which will be used for the promotion exercise.
The FCT Civil Service Commission became the first civil service commission in the country to conduct promotion examinations through the CBT system in 2024, barely six months after its inauguration in March of that year.SEO Tags
